The Long Wait Continues

26 July 2008; 1217hrs New York, New York (USA)

I survived the 14-hour wait! Only 45 more minutes before the scheduled departure time. In fact, somehow time flew by this morning after breakfast.

After checking-in at Delta Terminal 3, I went terminal hopping and concluded that T4 is still the best. Confirm. Plus it has a chapel. Haha... Really. It has more things to do without having to clear security before reaching the shops.

Went to the chapel to pray and meditate and received a free gift! A set of postcards from the Chaplain (Father Gerald Thomas Walker). So after my prayers, I just had to have a chat with him. And received another gift – a Singapore $5 note. Hahaha... Who in the right mind would donate that? The amount is too small for them to change or do anything with it. I learnt about the history of the chapel. It used to be free standing in front of the old T4 by a lagoon and was the first air-conditioned chapel in Brooklyn. The statue of Mary is a replica of the one they had. See the aviation propeller wheel? Cool. The replica was made by the same artist in Germany who made the original, and he died soon after completing the replica.

Fr. Walker even said I looked extremely fresh (despite the long flight and layover) and thought I was a seminarian! Hmm... Hahaha...

Somehow I knew more about how to travel between terminals than some of the locals. Came to ask me for directions...

Clearing security for this domestic flight was so laychey. Must take off shoes and almost everything, including belt. Wah... If my jeans were looser, confirm drop lor. And that black tube – always kenna asked questions.

Had lunch at Wendy’s after clearing security. Another fast food. But what to do? Easily available. Wonder why people say it’s so nice. OK only lah. The burger (beef) was average but the fries... limp and soggy. MacDonald’s fries confirm nicer. So they fail! Maybe their chicken burgers are nicer? But with fries like that, I have to consider whether I'll eat it again.

Oh well, time to check on my flight. Wonder why it hasn’t been called yet.

Yay! I survived!
